Chamber music originated as classical compositions performed in a small space, home or palace room, earning the tag “the music of friends”. This concert series transports you back to those early beginnings, where you will get up-close-and-personal to the musicians in our most intimate concert space. Prepare to be enthralled and moved as Brisbane’s best chamber musicians perform an eclectic programme spanning Baroque and 21st Century music. Highlights include a trilogy of Romantic, 20th and 21st Century works, The Lapraik Ensemble Piano Quartet performing Schumann’s incredible piano quartet and contemporary baroque ensemble Four Elements performing Baroque and contemporary works for Oboe, Violin, Cello and Harpsihord. Classical aficionados will appreciate the Harpsichord for this performance was imported from England in 2010 and the Italian violin used throughout the series will be a 1740 Fra Agostino Facini violin purchased in 2010.
